
Section 165 Notice
If your vehicle was seized on behalf of Northumbria Police under Section 165A of the Road Traffic Act 1988. This means an officer had reasonable grounds to believe that the driver was uninsured or was not driving in accordance with their driving licence. If your vehicle has been seized for this reason the driver should have received a seizure notice.
Have you provided documents at a police station?
You’ll find the details of how to reclaim your vehicle and the ID documentation you need to take with you on the seizure notice. You have seven working days to go to the police station listed on the seizure notice, otherwise your vehicle will be disposed of.
If you have not received a seizure notice or are unsure what documents you need to provide call 101 and select option 3, ask the operator to put you through to the Northumbria Police Vehicle Recovery Department or go to your local Police station, they will explain exactly what you need to do.
Have you had a phone call from the Police?
The Police Vehicle Recovery Department will contact you once they have checked your documents and advise you the vehicle is available to collect, CF Motoring Services Ltd will not be sent any information from the police until you have received contact from the Police.

Once your vehicle has been released by the Police, the person who the Police have released the vehicle to may attend our storage site to collect it, please be aware we have two storage sites one at Blaydon NE21 5SR and one at Sunderland SR4 6SJ.
The person who the vehicle has been released to must attend with Photo ID, the name and address on the ID must match the information provided to CF Motoring Services Ltd by the Police, if the address does not match you must bring a utility bill or bank statement or V5 with the matching name and address, should you not have a the relevant matching document available you will need to contact the Police Vehicle Recovery department on 101. If the vehicle has been released to a company, the collecting person must have a company letterhead naming them as the delegated representative and they must also have Photo ID with them.
Your vehicle may have outstanding recovery and storage charges which will need to be paid before it can be collected, to find out about the costs before attending site please contact our storage team. If you wish to pay by cash you will need to attend with the correct change as we do not have change available on site. Alternative methods of payment are Credit or Debit card, ATOA payment link, or faster payment (Same day bank transfer).

The prices are set by the Police, we must charge what they advise us.
